2003 Honda Civic LX makes "dragging noise" when initially accelerating.

Asked by Aaron Dec 16, 2012 at 05:25 PM about the 2003 Honda Civic LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It has been doing this for about 6 months now and I believe it is worse then when I first noticed it. When I am initially accelerating 0-10 mph it sounds like plastic is dragging from the center of the car. I totally thought that it was the undercarriage dragging but it is definitely not anything ACTUALLY dragging from the car. I was thinking maybe wheel bearings in one of the front wheels or the vents opening as I accelerate.. Thanks

It could be worn motor/transmission mounts. If the engine moves, it could rub on the axles. The engine would tend to move the most in first gear due to the ratio.
