Is this a fair deal? 2002 Honda Civic with 235000 miles for 2700?

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I wanted to check to see if this is fair. It was first priced at 3000 talked the seller down to
2700. It is in good condition. Does have sqeaking noise when going over a bump but was
told it was new struts breaking in.

The cynic in me is highly dubious of a squeak being "struts breaking in," at 235K there are a lot of things to look at for making that sort of noise, numerous bushings, engine mounts, etc. At least have a mechanic check out the car, it could potentially save you a ton of headaches.

I wouldn't go about 1k... I don't care who the manufacturer is, you are looking at a lot of $$ in repairs... a car with that mileage on it is at the end of its life...
