Why won't an engine for a 1994 Isuzu Rodeo work for my 2002 Rodeo?

Asked by Barbara Feb 09, 2017 at 02:23 PM about the 2002 Honda Passport 4 Dr LX 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hey! My question has to do with compatibility. Why is it that only engines within 2 years of the Rodeo or Passport will work for my car?

Because the '94 engine is controlled by a OBD1 computer, and the '02 is controlled by an OBDII computer. They are not compatible.
