Humming noise from front of car after it is off

Asked by Endo23 Feb 04, 2018 at 03:07 PM about the 2001 Ford Taurus SEL

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When my car is turned off there is a
humming/buzzing noise coming from the front
end. It will make that noise until the battery is
dead. Does anyone know what could be
happening?

A relay that isn't getting enough current to keep it on can buzz. On a Taurus there is a Relay Control Module near the front end on the fenderwall, if it has any bad connection or bad grounds it will buzz. Google what that is and it's location so you know what it looks like and then inspect it for a bad connection or bad ground.

It is also possible the relay is stuck on and the fan keeps running until the battery dies. The relay is definitely where to start your troubleshooting.
