Frozen spark plug

Asked by Barb Jun 12, 2018 at 12:49 PM about the 2001 Honda Civic EX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 01 Honda Civic. Recently I was told that
the 2nd spark plug was frozen. 3 different garages
say they don't do the repair. Is it really that hard of
a fix? How much would a cracked head cost to
replace?

Stripped spark plug holes are a PITA to fix. A cracked head would be a waste of money and time to try to fix.

I had an issue like this several years ago. Cleaned off all the rust with a wire brush, filled the hole with PB blaster and let it set overnight. Came back the next morning, dried everything off and used a breaker bar with socket. Just take your time and go slow. As far as a cracked head the cost may outweigh the value of the car. If it's not cracked don't worry about that unless that is actually the issue. Good Luck!
