Check Engine light flashes over 85 mph - intermittently

Asked by ceanes Feb 17, 2017 at 01:05 PM about the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Occasionally at higher speeds the check engine light flashes - no steady glow.
Slowing about 10-15 mph seems to allow it to clear up in a minute or two. What
can be causing this? It is the 6 cylinder engine on the 2006 model.

Have the OBD2 codes read. Maybe a code will show pending. Possibly a misfire or a problem with the exhaust emissions equipment.

Driving with the the check engine light flashing can do serious damage to the catalytic converter. Get it scanned for codes ASAP.
