My 2001 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 hard time shifting into 1st and Reverse

Asked by GuruBY8XT Dec 14, 2018 at 11:44 AM about the 2001 Ford Ranger XLT 2 Door 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Started having a hard time shifting into 1st and reverse. With the engine off it
shifted fine so I bleed the clutch. It seemed to have fixed the issue, but about a
week later it started slowly happening again. I now need to pump the clutch a
couple times before shifting into 1st or reverse. Big pain neck going through
town.

Bad slave cylinder. It's letting you know you're on borrowed time. Same thing happened on my 94
