Wheel shaking at high speed
Asked by Brittany Apr 01, 2017 at 09:02 PM about the 1999 Honda Accord LX
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Recently purchased 1999 Honda Accord and until today it
was driving perfectly. The past two days the weather has
been non stop heavy rain, sleet and wind which I've had
to drive quite a bit in. Today while on highway my wheels
began shaking and felt slight tugging of car. Wheel doesnt
shake under 55/60mph. Also, noticed my hubcaps are no
longer lined up with the tires as they were and should be.
I'm worried bc I've just purchased this vehicle and don't
know if I should be driving it.

Did someone remove the hub caps and loosen your lug nuts? You or Have someone at a shop figure it out, as its dangerous to drive either way what could be wrong as the symptoms are very serious and need attention ASAP.
The hubcaps are still on the tires but are not lined up creating perfect fit instead it looks like they need to be put back in place. Would the bad weather have caused this to happen? I should mention the hood seal is broken. Hood is latched but not sealed and it's been heavy rain for two days.

The hub cap will stay in the place you put them, they may come off or come out a little and still be in the general spot, otherwise if its in another all together alignment to move to different spot it had to be moved by hand. if its just in the process of falling off but in the same spot then push it back on.

But still need to have it checked out to see what is going on with the shaking, it could be a belt in a tire broke or loose parts, bent wheels, worn suspension parts all of which needs addressed before it causes a wreck or break down.
