A stuck temperature blend door, or the temperature blend door actuator went bad (most likely). You feel the heat coming from the heater core as it is always "on," (it works like a mini radiator), some air movement through the vents allows some heat to reach your cabin, but as long as the temp blend door can't open to the heater core side, you won't get any heat. Google how to replace a blend door actuator for your make and model.
Listen for the blend door as you turn the temperature knob. It's very quiet. Try getting close to the gas pedal . If you hear anything at all it's working. Get the heater core back flushed by a qualified shop. Make sure they get any air out of the system. I just had this done. Works perfectly now. 2009 GLI 75,000 miles
