My car died and went up in smoke

Asked by Sam Aug 11, 2018 at 12:00 PM about the 2004 Volkswagen Passat GLS V6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Last October, my 2004 VW Passat went up in smoke in
front of my house, quite literally. It was stuck in 2nd, and
smoking the entire way. Home, 15 miles, there's no place to
stop since it's road or ditch.

We filled the oil up a month before, it just burns off every
5000 miles. The clutch had 126,000 miles so we knew it
was going to go, but we never had this happen. The old
BMW died and didn't do that.

I had to fill it up on oil every 5-10 thousand miles. It would be empty if it hit 25 thousand
