Can't find dip stick

No dipstick. If you're concerned about your transmission and its health take it to a qualified mechanic who can inspect your fluid and change it for you. How long have you owned this car and how many miles. If it's never been done, you may want to have this checked out.

I have a 2010 Subaru Outback and just had a fluid change at 73,000 miles. Good insurance to keep it running smooth. Good luck.

Sometimes you have to wait. Mark was kind enough to answer your question at all.

Automatic transmission fluid should be changed more often than 70,0000 miles if you want to get good use out of your transmission. Your owners manual will give the factory recommendations but I would do ti at least every 50,000 miles and that is if you don't drive the car hard. Every 30k is better.

Full_of_Regrets- I would probably agree with you, this is not bad advice, but, as a point of information, Subaru only requires that the transmission fluid be "checked and inspected " every 30,000 miles. And, since I purchased this car at 66,000 miles, I didn't have any knowledge about the transmission fluid being changed. It's a sealed unit you know, and there's no dipstick. I decided to have my CVT transmission fluid changed out completely and since I have an extended warranty for 18 more months and 27,000 miles, I figured it's the cheapest insurance possible. I'll probably have it changed again at 103,000 miles. So far, my car drives like a brand new car, really remarkable. Remember, it's always better to be lucky than good.

One more thing, the only reason I didn't think of changing out the transmission fluid when I purchased my car is that they handed me a report with a 152 point inspection, it was a certified pre-owned vehicle and I had the Carfax report showing everything was done on my car. Now that I've had it for 18 months, I thought it was time for a check up and systems refresh.
