Crank no start on 98 honda civic lx

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I own a 98 honda civic lx and it will crank but
won't start. I began having this problem
when I was trying to fix what was a failed
attempt by the previous owner to put a kill
switch on the vehicle. They had the ignition
wires put together with speaker wire which
causeday it to heat up and smoke up. I had
fixed the problem but I made a rookie
mistake of not covering the wire with and
electrical nut or electrical tape so when it
touched metal it sparked and shut
everything down. I checked all the fuses
under hood and inside replaced ecm
distribution spark plugs spark plug wires
checked timing ( although I don't know if I
understood it correctly?) Also replaceed
both fuse boxes. What can it be? Someone
please help?

I am afraid you going to have to trace each and use a wiring diagram.
First of all have they done any wiring with the radio or dash at all if so there could be a short grounding the ignition switch out or something I've had problems with my radio as well from idling problems I have now but I bout car from my mother she drove the car for a year like this it would run charging around 11.6 volts and they replaced alternators 4 times and battery 6 times and they still had no luck but the head lights would flicker while driving and u had to charge battery overnight to be able to drive it the next day and if it was over thirty miles or so take another battery lol but I bought it and I found several hot wires bare and loose in dash and when I found them I found a couple of images of both fuse boxes and diagrams cause my cover of fuse box was missing so I didn't know what was what but with a few hours and a good test light I found a couple bad grounds and three blown fuses and all was fixed costed 13 bucks for fuses and the test light and I had it running perfectly for the first time in two years mom was peed off cause she sold it to me for Couple hundred bucks and everyone told her it couldn't be fixed for under 1800 dollars but she asked me what I spent fixing it I didn't know if I should lie or not I new it would upset her after the countless $ she had spent trying to fix it but I did and she wasn't mad at me but she blew up on pops lol but some of the simplest things cause some of the biggest problems but anyway there is a crank sensor on back of head that could be bad I had similar problems in past with other vehicles but if that's not it try and trace ur ground wires one from battery to body one from motor to body and one to from body to frame and one from motor to frame and if one of them is bad everything will work and it will turn over but will not crank if that's not it get back with me I've got a few more solutions for ya but good luck and god bless
