Running hot

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car guage showed running hot pulled over
no smoke made it home it cut off still no
steam cooled for about 45mins cranked
right up showing it has water

see if the fans come on when it gets hot ,(don't drive it like that though ) then replace the thermostat ,flush the system , look on the bottom of the oil fill cap tell us what you see , what does the exhaust look like ?
