I have a 1997 RHD Honda Accord wagon. I have just retired as Rural Letter Carrier. Car needs tranny work. Keep or not?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

How hard (and expensive) will it be to find parts to keep this car safe and
reliable?  I have almost 150,000 miles but not so many are route miles.

If your shop does the trans install it will cost a good bit of money and I think it depends on the condition of the rest of it. If it is in really nice condition all around inside and out and the engine purrs like a kitten without smoking or other issues and remember be aware that it is getting to the age to need axles & wheel bearings on front and this done at a shop is $4-500 average not counting parts. If this is all well and like stated above on condition it is easy to get parts as most of these makes & models their parts interchange, It may very well be worth it as the engine should be able to make it to 300k easy if serviced and remember to replace the timing belt. By the time 200k hits you may want to change the cat out for anew one, if it has not been replaced as this can cause an overheat issue that can blow a head gasket.
