why wont oil drain from my car

2009 accent...Engine light on and not running right.  Oil gritty and black.  I
changed the oil and accidentally put in about a quart more than required.  
there is at least four inches of oil showing on dipstick.  Engine light gone off
and car runs fine.  Took plug out of base pan to drain some and barely trickle
of oil coming out.  Lowered front of car a bit to slope towards plug more.  still
trickling. When I drained first time dipstick showed full but only 2 litres came
out.  I should have measured this before refilling.  Its like all the oil is stuck
up in engine instead of in the oil pan.  What could be causing this

Maybe there is sludge built up. Did you remove the oil fill cap? You need to do that to let air into the engine to push the oil out the drain.

Use a screwdriver and push it into the drain plug hole. It won't hurt anything. If black clumps come out, that's sludge and you need to get rid of the vehicle or just drive it until it dies. That kind of sludge buildup is the result of years of neglect. At this point nothing you do will reverse that! Hope that helps! Jim
