Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Guys, looking at a 2007 outback that seller says need engine rebuild or
replacement. I have rebuilt several american motors but not foreign. 120K on
car. Waiting to hear as to why and what happened to 'blown motor".

This all depends. If you can get it for a couple hundred bucks and you like a challenge you could go for it. I would probably buy a rebuilt engine with a warranty but first do the math and see if the purchase price plus the engine is not higher than the car is worth!

Since this is a turbo you might want to ask the owner if he hopped it up and raised the boost. If so he may have slagged the engine making it nothing but scrap metal.
