08 Kia Rio5
The car died one night while driving. Now it will
crank but won't start. I have confirmed it has spark
and fuel. Will check for compression soon. I
replaced the fuel pump (before I even checked for
fuel). Will crank, but won't start. I was told it could
be the camshaft sensor. Replaced it. It will crank,
but won't start. I am going to get some starter fluid
and try it to see if it'll run for a few. The car appears
to be getting suffincent air. If anyone has any info,
it'd be grateful.
I am a little puzzled on purchasing parts for this
car. The only thing that comes up is for 2008 Kia
Rio5 1.6L DOHC. Mine is a SOHC, not sure if it's the
1.4L or the 1.6L. I don't know if these parts for the
DOHC would throw anything off or not.
As you mention spark plug have spark and also fuel injector have fuel, kindly check spark plug and if plugs are black chande those
The plugs are still good. Each one had a healthy spark.
Do you have checked by removing fuel cap, fyel pump is providing current to injectors or not
It may be timing fault kindly, because if there is any problem with sensor crank etc vehicle do not provide spark to plugs if both are okay then may be timing problem, get one electrition to test
I have not. Please elaborate on the procedure. I would assume it is, since the plugs smell of gas after trying to start it.

You must check fuel before doing any thing, check if no fuel the then before put out fuel pump must check there is fuel pump problem or current problem, many of time people install new fuel pumps but do not gain any benefit so kindly first check current in fuel pump connector before installing new fuel pump i think fuel pump location is bottom back seat.

Yea, sorry. That is what the engine looks like. I had already replaced fuel pump. I'm wondering if the fuel pump was actually the issue and maybe I didn't get it put back together right. I don't know. It's too cold now to go mess with it. I'll probably take it to the shop later.
The fuel pump kicks on so there is current. It sounds like a new pump, it doesn't sound weak as if there weren't enough power to it.

No, timing belt is still intact. I didn't want to mess with it anymore and plus it's getting cold outside so I just took it to the shop. I don't think they got to it yet, but hoping to hear something Monday.
What was the out come?? My 2006 Rio is doing the same thing, died on my at 55 mph and would start again. Checked battery, alternator, check to see if fuel was coming out of the fuel pump it is, and I have spark. Stuck a screw driver in the coil pack an arched it to a bolt . Let me know thanks.
