Question type: Car Customization

I was wondering if anybody can help me figure this
out I tried doing research myself but it isn't coming
along to well. I have a 1995 Honda civic ex vtec
automatic. With a 1.5l engine, what does that
mean that it was swapped or its rare ? What Can I
check to know forsure

I can understand your concern as the EX model with the VTEC engine should be a 1.6L engine. The 1.5L motors were Non-VTEC. Check your engine ID on the block. Looking at the motor it should be stamped on a square section just to the left of the exhaust manifold. Post what you see and we can cross reference the ID.

The ID confirms you have a 1.5L JDM spec (Japanese Market) motor which was swapped from a previous owner(s). There were two kinds in VTEC form from what I gather. Care to take a pic of the entire engine bay?

Mmm I see. So what's really the benefits of having that engine in this car?

My apologies, I thought I had replied. I'm not familiar with this motor so I really don't have any real world experience to provide any comparisons. I did come across a website that gives some background; hope it helps. http://asia.vtec.net/article/d15b/
