Nothing works unless smart key is inserted..

Asked by SMB10 Jan 25, 2023 at 10:13 AM about the 2012 Kia Sorento EX V6 AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2012 Kia sorento. Smart Key won’t work and nothing works in the car (can’t

turn on the lights or anything that the battery should power).. until I insert the

smart key in the center console key slot. Then I can start the car fine and most

everything work (just not the radio and usb port) smart key battery has been

changed and tried the other key too. I checked most of the fuses and

everything seems fine. I was maybe thinking the Module 2 relay?

Sounds more like a programming glitch in the security system. Afraid to say it but you maybe looking at a trip to the dealer for possibly a computer flash.
