What would cause my truck to run in neutral but won'tove in drive or reverse?

My 94 Honda passport idols and revs
great but as soon as I remove it from
park or neutral it will idol n rev but
will not go anywhere it moves like
half inch.

ok, so you can start your car, but the moment you put it in gear it dies, or does it just run rough, until you try to give it throttle? also, more info will be much appreciated, manual/auto? mileage? was proper maintenance looked after? (oil, filters, plugs, etc.) also, BEFORE this started, did your passport have issues climbing hills? how about smoke coming from your exhaust?

This has happened to me too when I drive for a long time. Or when I run out of gas...the car starts dying. Mines a 1998, auto, and I got 108K on it. Throttle doesn't work unless I can get the car running before it dies.
