Delayed Acceleration

I have the same problem on my 2016 Altima. It seems to only happen after I've driven it for a while. So maybe heat is a factor? I haven't been able to repeat it yet when I take it to the dealer. I don't think it is warmed up enough. 97k miles

I am having the exact same issue 2016 Nissan Altima, 92K miles and when I was at stop light, when it turned green I had pedal to floor and it barely went. The RPMs went up though. I have also noticed the RPM would go high while driving and changing gears. Wondered if Transmission...sure hope not.

I'm having the exact same issue with my 2014 Nissan Rogue, after a while of city driving the accelerator takes about a second to go. Today specifically i noticed that it did it much earlier than usual. I noticed that it only does it on warmish weather, I'm in the northeast and its starting to get into the 50's now. Did it not do it during the winter. Sounds like it starts doing it when the car gets hot and like you mentioned if i shut off the car it resets it but it starts doing it again.

Did you get a solution to it? Because my car is doing it now too. Took it to the dealership and they said theres nothing they can do because they cant duplicate the problem

Same issue with my 2011 Altima. No association with car heating up, etc. Seems to be the case sometimes soon after startup, but has only occurred a handful of times over the last 5 years. A couple times from a dead stop on a hill; a couple times when stopped and accelerating into traffic. About 78,000 miles. Mechanic found no issue, but suspects it might be a computer-related problem.

I have a 2016 Altima SR that's been doing this for a while at like 60000 miles I now have 75000 and it went all the way out. It seems to be something they need to recall and fix. Because I didn't hit 100000k before something major like this happened I will not buy another Nissan. Same shit different year. And they not trying to fix it. Told me it probably the transmission. 4500 to fix

I am also having this delayed acceleration with my 2016 Nissan Altima. Sometimes when a red light and when the light turns green i put my foot on gas pedal and car would not move for few seconds and then finally it would go. Sometimes i have to pull to the side and turn off and the car and restart so it reboots because the car does not accelarate normally at all no matter how many times i try to accelerate. Someone might hit me from back. Once this happened to me on a left turn and I almost got into an accident. I contacted Nissan and they said there is no recall for this issue and I should take to the dealer to have them fix it. The dealer will charge me like $5000 when this issue should not be happening on a new car!!! Nissan is a joke!!!

I have a 2015 altima with the same sporadic acceleration issue. Every once and a while it has poor acceleration from stop and very occasionally it revs high rpm without shifting. I solve the high rpm issue by stopping, turning the car off and waiting 15 seconds before restarting. The delayed acceleration response might be the drive by wire system which is relatively new in these years of Nissan. I think mine might be the acceleration pedal sensor isn't communicating properly with the ECM or the throttle position sensor. This theory is supported by the high rpm issue which might be the car going into "limp in mode" which is to allow the owner to drive the car to the nearest shop when accelerator issues occur.

My 2016 nissan altima started doing this delay acceleration thing as well. I first noticed it when i was parked at a slight incline, put it in reverse and pushed the accelerator lightly. After getting no response at all, I put it in park. I then put it in reverse and it started going back but barely even at 100% throttle. I immediately turned it off, popped the hood and thought it was maybe a clogged air filter or something. I checked it and sure enough it was dirty af... so I went to get a new one and it didnt do it for about 3 or 4 weeks until yesterday I was at a red light and the light turned green. I took my foot off the brske and press the gas and started rolling but car didnt respond. I sunk the pedal to the floor and it had a delay for about 4 to 5 seconds which at this point i was already getting honked and and then it responded and took off. Havent had the problem since. Might get it checked out this weekend. Car only has 74,500 miles. First and last nissan with everything I have been reading about nissan ever since I bought it. No major problems yet though...

Ugh......I am having the exact issue with my 2017 Altima SV. This is the first time looking into the issue, been happening for approximately 2 weeks now. 92,000 km's. I refuse to spend $5000 to fix this on an essentially new car. Nissan can take it back.

I HAD the same issue as others with the delayed acceleration from a stop. My car also didn’t shift as it should once it did get going. I had read some other posts from auto mechanics and they talked about changing this sensor or that sensor. In one of the articles there was something that I found interesting. One guy said that after you replace a sensor, such as the Mass Air Flow, you should hook up a battery charger to ensure you have a steady source of 12 VDC while the sensor is being adjusted. That got me thinking about what would happen if your battery wasn’t putting out a steady source of 12 VDC?? Would it make these sensors not operate as they should?? My Altima did not come with a sealed battery as I’m sure most if not all Nissans are the same. When I checked the water level in the battery I found it very low. I refilled the battery to the proper level and have not had the problem since. I’m not saying this will work for all, but it’s a cheap and easy thing to check. Hope it works for you.

I took it to my dealer with the same issue. Luckily it was doing it when I got there to drop it off so the tech drove and experienced it. They changed the transmission, part of lifetime power train warranty. Cost 100 deductible. It is back to normal now.

I'm having the same issue w my Rogue - and same thing w my previous Rogue where I had to replace the transmission for $3700. The dealership can't "replicate" the problem and when I tell them this is a historical problem w Nissan's they shrug like they don't know what I'm taking about. I brought the car in at 58,000 miles right before my warranty ran out and they sent me home - now it's at 62,000 and getting worse. I'm going to try one more time and then calling the press. So disappointed in Nissan.

Yeah, my 2014 started doing this around 160,000 miles. It would really only happen after having the car on for at least an hour. You get to a redlight, wait a couple minutes, slam the pedal to the floor!! And nothing for about 3 seconds, it takes 2 seconds to creep up to 2000rpm, then it takes right off up to 6500rpm. For a while I was using the OverDrive Off button on the shifter, it would aliviate the issue. But then the car started getting stuck in OverDrive Off mode and Whinning, so I quite using OD-OFF all together. Solution: Shutting the car off, and restarting. It would go away for a bit. Otherwise youd need a new Tranny :-/ not worth the cost. Still love these cars, every car has its issues.

I have a Nissan Altima it’s a 2008 and mine is doing this same thing after I drive it for a little while, It doesn’t click when I try to press the gas and then it slingshots my car! I took my car into Nissan and they told me I needed all this stuff done and a new transmission they want to charge me 4,000 just to put in a new transmission my car only has 98,000 miles? Has anyone found a solution? Or advise

I was having the same problem with acceleration on my 2016 Altima with only 57,000 miles on it. Just brought it to the dealer. They did a software update and told me that should solve the issue. We’ll see !

2016 Altima, same thing. Delay in acceleration. My mother in law was driving it recently and it happened to her when trying to make a left hand turn IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. Nissan, own up to this please.

2015 altima about 42K did the same thing still lucky have a live.I thing NIssan know but don't want to respos..ti fix that problem...seem like went car get a little heat..before din't turn on AC. every work find....

I’m happy I’ve done my research and stumbled onto this forum because my 2014 Sentra SL has probably been doing the sporadic delay on the acceleration after stopping . I’m currently at 90000 and it’s been doing it since 60-70000. I read above that it might have to do with the step motor. Has anybody find a solution to this yet or if Nissan mentioned anything about a possible recall ? I thought it was just my car but I see many of you have or is experiencing the same problem.

Well thank god my Altima was at 56k miles. The dealer replaced my transmission as the car was still under the 60k mile power train warranty. I have had Nissans forever but this will probably be the last one. I still have my 2003 frontier with 270k miles on it so I could have a truck still and it’s on the original transmission and my 2016 has failed already? Something is seriously wrong here. How long will the replacement transmission last???? Maybe I get another 50k? What a joke

One thing I've begun to do to keep it from not accelerating. I put it in neutral when I stopped then put it back in drive. I don't know what the problem is but I originally thought it was the transmission, but recently I noticed that my rpm's don't go up either. Which is a delayed throttle response. However I don't know what that could be. That's about as far as I've gotten for now.

So I have my 2014 in the shop right now that I literally just bought on Friday and the dealer is telling me they "think" they fixed it and blamed a brake light sensor. I cannot believe a brake light sensor would make the throttle unresponsive for several seconds. It sounds like a load of BS to me. We'll see when I get it back if it's still doing it or not.

For what it's worth in my experience it does it after about 30 minutes of driving, and when you shut the car off and turn it back on it works as expected for some time. The best way for me to describe what I'm seeing is like it's launching a car from 2nd or 3rd gear. Super slow and unresponsive until the engine gets some RPM's. Annoying to say the least.

^ In response to KC_Joe, That could be a possibility since these cars are actually designed to do that if you are holding the brake. I posted on here about 2 months ago, and my car has been getting worse ever since then. Now it does it about every 2 days sometimes more often than that. Its getting annoying and sometimes dangerous as im on busy streets.

Steven, yeah I almost got in a wreck because of it. I pushed the gas and it didn’t go and then started creeping. Wasn’t expecting that at all. Hopefully this fixes it. We shall see.

Ok so something interesting happened to me yesterday.. I start my car and I see the check engine light on. I go grab my scan tool, plug it in and it gives me a code for the automatic transmission P0776. I look it up and it turns out its for “Pressure Control solenoid B Performance stuck off”. It turns out this is a solenoid that controls the pressure of the fluid for the proper operation of the automatic transmission. I think I might have found whats wrong with these stupid cars. I read it might get worse over time. Some troubleshoots include changing the fluid and checking all connections leading to automatic transmission to make sure they are no corroded.

Your experiencing what I experienced. My codes read P0300 and P011 after a CVT transmission change. To up to date after i already paid 1000 and some change. Nissan Union City is saying I have a warranty. When they told me i didnt. The lending company that lease car says I do. These cars are money pots. And they dont even want them.

Those codes are related to the engine and not the transmission. Maybe you also have a problem in the engine?

Have you tried changing your fuel filter?

I finally got a check engine light...code P0776, solenoid B stuck open or not functioning. This is the transmission failing. There is no recall and requires transmission repair/replace. Please go online to the NTSB and make a complaint. It's easy and can sometimes get them to force a recall.

I just had this issue in my car. It recently started happening during the summer. The service manager drove my car today and said the brake light was failing. They replaced the brake light so we will see what happens.

For what it’s worth after 4 trips to the dealer after they could t reproduce or pull codes, my transmission finally wouldn’t shift and would just do about 40mph at 4500 rpm. They got codes off of it for failed solenoid pressure and replaced the valve body control. $1200 of work covered by warranty. No internals were damaged they claim.

My Altima 2015 2.5s started doing this. It happens once 2/3 days and as soon as I restart the car the problem goes off. There is no check engine light till now. Is this a transmission problem? have anyone found whats the reason behind this???

My 2015 Altima 90k miles had same issues. Took it to some very expensive mechanics at a big Nissan dealer where the issue was found. P1518 and p0776 was the cause. Replace the transmission valve body and reprogrammed tcm. Issue was solved.

He guys! My uncle works at Nissan as the head of the service department. My car is a 2016 Altima doing the same thing, I will try to update y’all as he updates me. As of now he said it’s not a known issue (to them), but it’s obviously known since we’re all experiencing the same thing.

I had no engine light but the codes were stored in the computer. I had extended warranty so I paid nothing although just in labor and part (from Nissan) were about 1200 now that’s just them prices vary from mechanic shops and I’m sure it can be way cheaper.

Update. It’s been a week already and still no issue at all. Drove it about 1k miles long distance from my area (Fresno ca to los Angels) about 300 miles to and 300 back plus driving around town for about 1k and no issue no stalls nor hesitation or delays. I just received something in the mail about a class action settlement for 2013-2016 Nissan Altima transmissions stating that the warranty has been extended for the trans. It says they’ll pay up to $5,000 in repairs. Anyone else get this? If not I’ll post a picture

Guru, from what I been told and research I have done. Your 2011 model doesn’t have a class action on it. Or warranty from Nissan. Now your best bet is starting one and hoping there is enough 2011 models out there that are willing to petition it for Nissan to address it. Other then that. Everything is out of pocket for you .

I have extended power train warranty. Anything that is motor and transmission related. The most expensive are covered.

I’m having the exact same issues with my 2014 Altima. Had mechanics look at it and charge me $1700 in repairs, changing air filters, spark plugs, all fluids, torque strut mount & Alternator Belt oil and filters. DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! Also couldn’t “replicate problem” when they were fixing it. However when I turn it off and on again it works as normal for a while. Cars at 126k miles and is no longer in warranty so would love to know more about the recall. CHerr616 please post the picture.

Same issue started with our 2016 last week just when it hit 100K miles. Just read that that class action lawsuit was approved and notices started going out. However I'm bummed to find out the details--if you are over 90K miles you are screwed: A Settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit against Nissan North America, Inc. (“NNA”), regarding the Continuously Variable Transmissions (“CVTs”) in model year 2013–2016 Nissan Altima vehicles. NNA denies it engaged in any wrongdoing. The Settlement provides an extension of the Nissan New Vehicle Limited Warranty on your Class Vehicle’s transmission from 60 months / 60,000 miles to 84 months / 84,000 miles (whichever occurs first) (the “Warranty Extension”). NNA will reimburse Class Members 100% of the amount they actually paid for parts and labor to an authorized Nissan dealer (or up to $5,000 paid to a non-NNA repair facility) for: • Qualifying transmission repairs made to their Class Vehicle, if the work was done within the time and mileage limits of the Warranty Extension. • Qualifying transmission repairs made prior to their Class Vehicle’s odometer exceeding 90,000 or January 30, 2020, whichever occurs first, if they submit appropriate documentation establishing that a Nissan dealer diagnosed and recommended a qualifying transmission repair within the time and mileage limits of the Warranty Extension. The deadline to submit a Claim Form is January 30, 2020, or within 30 days of the qualifying repair to your vehicle, whichever is later.

I have a 2013 ..it has same issues.press to the floor and nothing.. The car won't accelerate....the gas petal is the problem they're electric....just unplug the wires remove two 10 mms bolts and the petal comes right out...can get a new one for around 40 bucks on Amazon. Or ebay

Mine did this for 18 months before the Throttle Body triggered the "Service Engine Soon" light. Got the Throttle Body replaced and the lag from a red light suddenly went away!

After changing the gas pedal I thought I had the problem fixed on my 2013 altima.....not to be...so I removed the throttle body and cleaned it with brake cleaner and wd40.....now 2 weeks later all is well check engine light even went out...so far so good..

2017 Altima with 70k miles is doing this as well. Pretty freaking scary when it happens in traffic! Have an appt with Nissan in the morning... Interested to see what they say. Might end up just trading it in. Ugh.

This happen me at 55k miles on my 2017 Nissan Altima! It would always happen with my wife and never me, but it did it on the fwy and engine rpm was at 4-5 thousand rpm with 60 mph limit! I only had for one year and I keep getting letters from lawyers about this issue, which now I’m going foward with this lemon issue. Going back to Honda’s!

So far Nissan can't replicate the problem and the transmission isn't throwing any codes. They said they updated the transmission software to hopefully get it to throw a code.

Hopefully it works! I research the steep motor to see how much it is because I’m a mechanic it’s only $50 bucks but only to find out you have to pull out trans to replace part inside, which is why it is so expensive

I seem have to similar problem but without any engine light or code. Intermittently the car wont rev up when I press the pedal. Changed the air filter and made sure the sensor is fine but still ongoing problem. Not sure what to do next. Its Altima 2013 at 98K miles, not sure what to do

Remove the throttle body and cleaned it with brake cleaner .....make sure the butterfly opens and closes freely...spray with wd 40...then install...press start button wait 10 seconds.....apply brake and start..this fixed my 2013 altima hope it repairs yours

It's the valve body on the transmission, and with the recent enhanced code tracking on the transmission software it should throw a code now. I was able to address this under the standard powertrain warranty so I'm not sure what the cost would be out of warranty. The dealership drained the fluid, had a valve assembly kit in stock and had it fixed in two hours, so it's not like the whole tranny needed to be pulled. Or the engine. All that to say it shouldn't cost an arm and a leg.

Have had this ongoing issue with my 2017 Altima with 52K miles but the dealer was unable to replicate it and could not get a code. Last week it happened again and I drove immediately to the dealer, did not turn the car off when I got there and had a mechanic get in and drive around with me. He hooked up the computer and it finally threw a code. He said the car was dangerous to drive! They replaced a valve (called it the "brains" of the transmission) and all seems to be ok for the time being. The service rep did warn me that this could happen again because of the sucky CVT transmission. Luckily I was still under warranty.

It’s the transmission. My 2016 done the same and it was the transmission. They put a rebuilt one in and it’s back in the shop after about 10,000 miles! Sick of it.

I’m not sure why the transmission is causing this. I’ma parts guy by trade and GM has had a major issue as has Chrysler with the drive by wire electric throttle pedal sensor as well as the electric throttle body sensor for years. If the car revs up and doesn’t move, that more than likely transmission related, but when the car is delayed to rev the engine, that’s what is usually a throttle sensor issue. Maybe Nissan has a sensor that controls throttle somehow inside of the transmission that in unaware of.

I have a 2017 Nissan Maxima and am experiencing the same thing. The car operates normally for about 30 - 40 minutes then when pressing the accelerator down I get no response. Then after several seconds the car will respond. Dealership said that it did throw a code and after a couple of days they replaced the transmission valve body. Got the car back and the next day it happened again. Now they say it is the brake light switch and have replaced that. We'll see if that fixes the problem.

UPDATE guys; ISSUE RESOLVED I had my brake sensor changed. Afterward, I was still having the problem. I noticed that the brake light in the back wouldn't come on until I had pressed brake pedal quarter of the way. I went back to the dealer and had them adjust the brake sensor. They also told me that a "Relay" next to the brake sensor might also be a problem and changed that (cost 13$ only). Since then the issue has resolved completely. No more acceleration problems! Hopefully, it helps out someone else too.

2016 Altima - Same thing. This is the weird part. I only get the P0776 in Pending only. Turn off car and restart resets the issue and the pending disappears. I have the accel issue as well and will do this in neutral. So, I do not think its entirely the tranny. The P0776 code is the valve body in the CVT. SB calls for insp of the CVT belt and if its bad the tranny needs to be replaced. The dealer will not act on symptoms, there must be a latched fault P0776 with a check engine light on before they will warranty the repairs. 2016 will only get you 60K mile warr. Now, explain the throttle response in neutral issue I got. I can't. Thank you

Most Nissan have same problem with CVT is the step motor on altima and maxima it's easy to replace on sentra and rogue you have to remove the valve body then replace the step motor. My altima 2008 had same problem started at 188k km replace transmission fluid run fine until 220k km then this problem hapened REPLACE transmission oil and the problem did not go, I did a research and find out is the step motor . Replaced step motor problem solved today the car has 275K still run like new

Hello! About a year ago I purchased a 2017 Nissan Altima sv from dealership. About 6 months in I began having delay in acceleration every once in a while and would continue until car was turned off and back on. (49k miles) Everything I have read in this thread has been very accurate or at least very similar to my situation. So a couple weeks ago I decided to take it into my dealership and have it checked out. After inspection they came to conclusion that my transmission module was very out of date in my computer system and required a new update. They then told me that this would either fix the problem that the car was having or if it did occur again that it would then ping a check engine code that would lead to the direct problem that was causing it. Ever since having the car back I feel as if my shifts between gears feel less rough and I have not ran into this problem since. Luckily, my car was completely covered by warranty so I paid zero. Hopefully this helps somebody that is going through the same situation I was!

2014 Altima 120k miles Always changed oil, serviced regularly etc... Delayed acceleration. Almost caused a wreck when trying to turn left. Does more often in warm weather, when A/C has been on or when I have been idling in a drive through or stopped for a long red light. So scary. Does anyone know EXACTLY what causes this?

I drove to Myrtle Beach for my birthday last year and my car died as SOON as I got to my hotel. Engine light and battery light came on. I thought it was my battery so I replaced that and was able to get home with no issues. Two days after returning home, it died again. I began searching YouTube for this issue and was able to find a clip of EXACTLY what my car was doing and the guy in the clip said it was the transmission. Had it taken to Carmax (that's where I purchased my vehicle) and it was my transmission. I was 3,000 miles away from my warranty expiring. I'm thanking God it was taken care of. I have a 2016 Nissan Altima and ive had it for almost 2 yrs now, it was a wrecked car that was fully repaired. I purchased the car in Oct. Of 2018 and it the issue didnt start until one warm summer day in 2019. I was waiting on oncoming traffic so i could turn left..i see a car coming but i felt I could make and so i pushed the throttle a little hard and my car literally just sat there, it rolled ever so slowly for like 3-4 seconds it seemed, then finally it goes and the RPMS kick up and you can really hear them kick up too but the car you can feel is trying to go but it like hesitates to go as fast as you try to get it to go and the speed is way off from what the RPMS are showing and sounding. Lemme say, its very annoying! Kinda embarrassing too when you got people behind you, but most of all it is dangerous! Use to, I could pull into a parking lot, or a stop light and shut my car off for a few seconds then restart my car and it would be normal again, but now, it doesnt seem to help much at all. Before, the issue would just gradually get worse as in out driving thru town, but now it starts as soon as i drive it after the 1st start up of the day. I always thought it had something to do with my AC cause the only time it seemed to act up at all is during the summer when the AC is on. Some people just laugh at me when i say that..they also think it could possibly just be the heat of the outdoors triggering it, rather than the AC Who knows! I am taking it to a Nissan dealer here in a few days to get it checked out. If they are able to come up with what the problem is and it gets fixed I will gladly post it on here for those that share the same issue. Overall, I must say, its a great car! 1St time i laid eyes on it, I knew it was mine. It's been very reliable! The one and ONLY complaint i have with this entire car is the stalling issue! Not bad, Nissan! Not bad! Btw, my car has just under 81k miles on it.

This has just began happening to my 2013 Altima. Usually resets when I turn the car off and on. I took it into a Nissan dealership and was told the tranmission must be replaced. They said the torque converter within the transmission is over heating and isn't able to make enough pressure, which doesn't allow the transmission to receive power from the engine to get the car moving?

PROBLEM FIXED for $21.99!!! My 2010 Nissan Altima was having the same problem.... VCD Off & SLIP lights came on.... delayed acceleration after being stopped. After reading on another forum that changing the brake light switch fixed the problem, I decided to give it a shot. Bought a new brake light switch at ORiellys for $21.99, looked up on YouTube how to install it (took less than 2 mins with no tools necessary, being a girl with NO mechanical experience) and wallaaa problem was immediately fixed. I have a 2017 Altima with the same issues i just noticed it about 73,000 miles then it stopped for awhile now it’s at 79,000 miles and it’s starting back up and the check engine light now comes on sometimes and then goes off. Seems like Nissan is a horrible brand to purchase

I have the same issue with my 2014 Altima. No check engine light. No code. But Nissan dealerships have no trouble charging me a diagnostic fee $90 and saying there’s nothing they can do.

OMG I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM NOW

It’s the scariest when my kids are in the car and the car doesn’t move at an intersection in traffic. This issue is really turning me off to Nissan cars.

HAS ANYONE FOUND A SOLUTION? My 2016 Altima is doing the same. Dealer said no codes and they "test drove" it. I changed the air filter too just in case...problem still there. The acceleration is very delayed and sometimes when my put is fully on the gas...the car does't respond.

Nissan released a service bulliton on this. SeeNissan service bulliton SB-10074573-2280 . Basically, it's either a problem with the brake light switch or brake relay. The computer thinks the brake switch is still pressed in when you are trying to accelerate. The car won't let you accelerate while it thinks the brake is pressed. This is a pretty simple fix most can do themselves.

It’s in the transmission, it happen to my 2017 Nissan Altima Sv at 55k miles. No codes. Engine would rev at 6k Rpm at 50pmh! And delay at acceleration. Luckily It was under warranty, it was the valve body It’s inside the transmission. I’m now going to trade it in. It’s a CVt transmission and Nissans are the worst. I’m going to trade it for a Honda now!

Oh and by the way. Once they fixed it they said the brake switch needed to be replaced & they wanted to charge me $390!! I said no thanks! I’ll do it my myself, I’m a mechanic(forklift) and couldn’t believe it! I bought the switch at another Nissan dealer at $78 & installed it myself in 20 min. Just YouTube it if your not to handy.

I luckily recorded a video of me pushing the gas multiple times and the car stuck at 60km and not going up. I hope this is enough evidence with this article for them to actually do something.

How does a safety recall happen? Who is in charge of that? Who regulates or mandates it?

Per a couple of suggestions I switched out the brake light switch on my 2014 Nissan Altima. If I go 2-4 weeks without the accelerator not working I’ll let y’all know. Thanks!

Update: Went to a different Nissan dealer and they found the issue. It's the brake light switch. The car thinks you are braking and therefore theres a delay in acceleration.

I have the same issue with my 2015 Altima. Have since I bought it. I have found that easing into the throttle helps also letting off the gas as if you are shifting a manual helps it to shift properly. I've also been told it is either the throttle sensor, the o2 sensor or the transmission, when I explain the problem. However like everyone else can never duplicate it when at the shop. Would be nice to get it fixed but not spending almost 5I for a tranny.

Update: I replaced the brake switch and bypassed the brake relay per the Nissan service bullotin but the problem still exists. Maybe the throttle body is dirty. Problem can be recreated only after a dead stop, but is independent of the brake (recreated it using only the e brake).

My 2017 nissan altima did this to me about a month ago. Check engine light is NOT on, NO codes coming back on it NOTHING! I'm taking it to Nissan next week if they can't figure it out they can keep it!

My 2015 Altima just started doing this 24 hours ago at 99333 miles, First i thought it was because i qas was on a hill, then right after that i went to make a left turn and a speeding car was heading towards me and I almost didn't make it because of the delayed acceleration. I parked for about 5 minutes and didn't experience the problem until today. Same situation, trying to make a left turn is when I noticed it. Stepping on the peddling revved the engine to 4k rpm and the car only reached 25 mph. I turned the car off then back on and it was fine. My transmission was rebuilt at 60,000 miles.

My 2016 altima at random when i parallel park my light dim and i loose power also the steering when gets tight and turns the other way it dont do it often but its scary

@dhudley you need to have your battery replaced! The power steering pump is electric and uses alot of power. Been through this 2 years ago. A new battery from the dealer for my 2015 was 130 with a 7 year warranty.

our 2014 altima had the trans issue and accelerator issue. replacing the battery corrected the problem. The battery only showed low volts when cranking. Advance and Auto Zone will check the battery for free. A clean air filter is also a must. All related to the computer not getting a proper reading .

My 2016 Altima is having the same problem as all of you with the accelerating from a stop problem. It's happened 4 times and I only have 26,000 miles on the car. I am also experiencing a rattling under the car as I start it up which sounds like something hitting metal kind of vibration. No lights on the dash are coming on.

update: 2016 Altima is at the dealership right now having the transmission replaced due to this issue. Mileage 26,999.

I started having this problem with my 2017 Nissan Altima SV at just over 50k miles and brought it into several Nissan dealers multiple times. The first time they put in some kind of diagnostic tracking and a tune, the car totally shifted differently, I suspect this is to try and hide the underlying issue. FINALLY, after driving with this issue and almost getting into dozens of accidents the check engine light came on!!! This is the exact cause as stated on the receipt, Delay move from a stop. DTC P0776 stored, Inspect CVT Chain=OK. RPL Valve body as per NTB16110. N0821214555696 JX37AA Inspect CVT chain. So what the dealer did was replace the valve body and also the battery. The car shifts totally different yet again, but I've been accelerating just fine since. This really needs to be a recall, please everyone report this if you haven't already. I got same thing happened to my Altima this past week, RPMs slowly moved up over 3-4 then shift gear. I turned it off, waited few seconds and after restarting it it worked fine. Today this morning not same issue but then check engine light came on and same issue. I'm glad the light came on so they can pull up a code and fix the issue. We'll find out later on this week

Had the same problem for a few months now for the delayed lag. Everytime I come to a stop and try to accelerate, it takes about 1-3 seconds to accelerate. I finally found the issue. My issue was that my Cvt transmission fluid was old and that I needed to replace it. Once I replaced the cvt tranny fluid, my car stopped the lag from a stop and performed normally like it used to. I drive a Nissan Altima 2008 3.5 sedan with 158,000 miles also before the transmission fluid change, I also cleaned out the throttle body and maf sensor and it still lagged. Another thing that the old tranny fluid did was my acceleration was very slow to pick up

I have 2017 Altima with 91k with the same issue to the point which scared my wife to drive it . You can not predict when or where it is going to happen. On my first visit they said they could not duplicate the problem and there was no code stored either. On my second visit they decided to update TCM and We changed transmission oil about three weeks before that. It has been two weeks, Knock on wood so far we have not encountered with the same issue. Hopefully this will help. I will update, if there is any change.

Same thing was happening on our 2016 Altima 70k miles dealer said it was the * transmission* , dealer replaced transmission with a complete new one covered under Nissan extended warranty . Transmissions are bad on these cars and they can’t just fix it the whole transmission must be replaced .

i had the same Problem with my 2016 altima was driving me nuts if you want to Fix this issue Just buy Brake sensor relay $20 part takes 2 mins its the sensor at the brake pedal ever sinse i changed that no more problems!!!!!!

Jason, where to put the Brake Sensor Relay? under the brake? And I'm not clear, It's Brake lamp relay or, Brake switch Light?

problem with acceleration on a 2016 Nissan Altima its the Manifold-Catalytic-Converter. Its getting clogged up and so your upstream 02 sensor isn't reading right which makes the acceleration problem. so you need a new Manifold-Catalytic-Converter and that should fix your issue.
