Car wouldn't start- replaced battery- still wont start...could this be a fuse?

Asked by sullivan Aug 18, 2007 at 07:47 PM about the 1992 Honda Civic DX Hatchback

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car wouldn't start, assumed it was dead battery and wouldn't hold a charge.  Just replaced the alternator.  Didn't try to jump start it, but push started it by popping the clutch in second gear. Run fine all the way home. Replaced with new battery after noticing other battery was five years old.  Dashboard lights will come on, including check engine light....but still won't start.  Please Help!!!!!!!!!

Could be your starter motor or starter solenoid.

I agree with 18T, your starter motor is a likely culprit. A rebuilt starter with new solenoid would probably be the way to go. Are you sure that the negative ground cable is tightly attached at both ends, with no cracks or breaks in the cable?
