1990 Honda Accord Gas Smell While Driving

Hey, I have a Canadian 1990 Honda Accord EX. Just did a fuel pump
replacement on it, and I occasionally notice a gas smell while driving. I think
it's been getting worse recently.

Typically I only smell it while moving with the windows open. Sometimes I
smell it if the AC is on too.

I've also recently been noticing that it lingers and I'll get inside my car in the
morning and smell gas. Seems to be coming mostly from the trunk area.

I checked underneath the car for leaks and didn't see anything dripping,
even when the car is running.

When I open the engine bay it doesn't really smell like gas at all, seems to
be only near the trunk.

Don't really notice the smell while idling either.

Also, the problem only seems to happen sometimes. Occasionally I'll be
driving and I don't notice a gassy smell at all. I'll run the heater, ac, and
everything smells fine.

Other times I notice it quite a bit. Really confused here.

sounds like either the fuel pump is not seated and tightened in the tank properly or one of the hoses is not tight .
