1990 Accord parking problem

Asked by CaitlinRTodd Dec 29, 2013 at 08:34 PM about the 1990 Honda Accord LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1990 Honda Accord with 193,000 that drives like a dream... however I do have
one problem.

When it's cold outside and I arrive at my destination, my car takes forever to get into
park. I can hear the gear shift into park immediately but until the little red light around
the "P" on the console comes on, I can't turn the car off. It only happens when it's cold
and it normally doesn't happen when I've been driving for at least 30 minutes or more.
But any kind of short distance and this is what happens.

sounds like your transmission is sludged with the former 100,000 miles of use...take it to a transmission shop...new fluid and filter and it's off to your lesson~
