2005 accent

Asked by GuruDDQCN Aug 07, 2017 at 07:56 AM about the 2005 Hyundai Accent GLS 2-Door Hatchback FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Bought from a dealer with a weird way to start it.
You had to put on the signal lights, touch the brake
and believe had to hit the hazards before even
trying to turn the ignition?

Your car has electrical issues. Sounds like it may be in the steering column. You should not have to go through a routine like that to start the car. Holding the brake pedal in normal (my Jeep is push button start and you have to hold the brakes to start). Having to use the turn signals and hazard lights is NOT a normal operating procedure.

I agree with Gary....only other possibility would be a crazy alarm system setup. But that many check points in an Accent is highly unusual....so I would focus on the steering column. Its amazing how many things a bad column can effect.
