The check engine light went on right after I put in a new air filter.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Is it possible I knocked a hose off or something when I put the new filter in?
The car is running fine.

Go back and look at the intake plenum and look for lines that may have been disturbed. Commonly a PCV hose is routed close to the airbox, also the mass air flow sensor is up there but the car wont run right without that. Maybe the IAT sensor. Pull the code to narrow it down first.

thank you very much for your reply. the hoses were in tact but when the computer codes were read it said the engine was misfiring-which it definitely was not. I had them change the oil and reset the computer and the engine light has stayed off since.
