Car pick up failure and speedometer not reading

I was driving my toyota allex and my wife asked me  
to stop for a newspaper. I stopped and put the
engine on neutral. when I put the gear box buck on
drive and pressed on the accelerator, I noticed that
the engine couldn't pick up speed and the
speedometer was not working. what can be the
solution? please assist me.

Any Check engine lights? Could be a speed sensor in the transmission. Book Knowledge Source: Amazon Search; Jesus Roberto Auto.
