struggle to get power at take off

Asked by Fortuner_3454 Mar 13, 2017 at 02:06 PM about the 1989 Mitsubishi Mighty Max 2dr Standard Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently saw a Mighty Max for sale the owner
said the only real problem with it is that when you
try to take off the vehicle struggles a little I was
looking for any suggestions as to what this could
be and possibly how much you think it could cost
the owner said he believes it's the carburetor

I would have a mechanic check it out. You only have the owners guess as to what is wrong. It could end up needing a lot of expensive work to drive right.

if it has an actual carburetor look down the barrels when it's off and open the throttle plate (hit the gas) , a jet of gas should squirt down the barrel from the accelerator pump , if it doesn't this may account for the hesitation .
