my 2004 hyundai doesn%27t reverse

My 2004 Hyundai doesn't reverse when put into reverse. The car left my house the morning and was fine, no loud noises or anything out of the ordinary.. and when i went to leave, i put it into gear, but it wouldn't reverse or move. The drive works fine. I did have a break light issue a few months ago, but i though it was just the bulbs.. could this be electric? what should i check first?

it sounds like a transmission issue, i'd say take it to a shop and see what they say.
