When I start my car in morning, I have foot on break and car jerks to go. After that it is fine.

Asked by snowowl24 Apr 21, 2015 at 10:32 AM about the 2003 Hyundai Sonata V6 GLS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

After car sits over night, or many hours, I turn key, car starts. Tach is at 1000. I put foot on
brake and shift into drive or reverse. Car acts like I have a tiger in the tank and wants to
take off. I manage it by not holding brake down too far. After first start up, it's fine. Live in
high humidity area.  Has two head gaskets replaced about six weeks ago.  This started
about a month ago. Car drives at 10 mph without my placing foot on gas. Any ideas?

Clean your butterfly valve on the throttle body. It's probably sticking open.
