Sputtering and flashing CEL

Asked by Shellio Dec 01, 2012 at 10:58 AM about the 2002 Hyundai Accent GS 2-Door Hatchback FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

A few weeks ago my car has started to sputter when I am accelerating.  Then a week later the check engine light flashed on and off a few times while driving to work.  I checked the gas cap and it was tight.  Several days later, I get the flashing CEL again as I'm driving down the highway.  It's very intermittent.  Is this something a simple tune-up would fix?

would almost bet it is a misfire...check plugs and wires or coil if coil on plugs
