Can i eliminate the air conditioning?

Asked by Nicodemis Mar 10, 2020 at 06:57 PM about the 2002 Hyundai Elantra GLS Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Im wondering if i can just eliminate the belt that
goes from the crankshaft pulley to the air
conditioning compressor pulley. Im just wondering
if i do if it would throw anything else off balance
because there are 2 different pulleys that go to the
crankshaft pulley and they are both tensioned in
oposite directions

Thanks for the reply. I heard a scraping noise off and on and put my stethoscope up to it to see if that was the problem and it sounds like the pulley is going out of it. I dont need a.c. so was just thinking of eliminating it
