Will this alternator work?

Asked by Guru134N9 Oct 01, 2019 at 06:10 AM about the 2001 Hyundai Elantra GT Hatchback FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My alternator went out and I'm low on cash right  now. My
car calls for a 80 watt alt. But I found a universal alt. That is
100 watts and half the price. Was wondering if that would
be bad for my car?

The problem would be, will it bolt up to he existing bracket, and the correct electrical plug, so probably not. and you should use the correct Amperage. go to rock auto.com you can pick up a Remy reman for $80 plus shipping. You car uses a 90 amp model. You can also try to find a used one as well. Always use the correct part for the application.
