1986 Jeep Wagon overheated and leaked. Help?

Asked by Joe Aug 27, 2016 at 03:38 PM about the 1986 Jeep Grand Wagoneer 4 Dr STD 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Went on an errand in my 86 Jeep wagoneer. I stopped and went into the
store and came out and noticed coolant leaking on the ground. Drove it
home and made it to the driveway. Shut it off and coolant was spraying right
below the battery, but, I couldn't find the leak. Hoses seem okay. It stopped
when it cools down. Again, it seemed to be coming from below the battery
and it's def coolant spraying from beneath. Any thoughts?

check for cracks in the engine block or heater matrix etc, remove the battery, replenish the lost coolant, run to temperature and you will be able to see the leak clearer

Have the cooling system pressure tested if you are unable to find the leak. Could be a hose, the radiator, the water pump or something else.
