Eric, your suggestioned worked. i located the switch and wiggled the switch within the rubber tip and WAH-LA it worked. now when i shut the door the "open door icon" is gone from dash board. thank you, as you probably save me a few dollars by doing this myself . thanks again, Becky

Eric, this is so correct. Once I figured out the switch you speak about is the black rubber thing on the car frame, it was a cinch to fix.....thank you so much for your answer....
Hi, I have a 2013 Hyundai Sonata that I bought in Fall of 2014. One day I accidentally closed the driver's side door on the metal part of the seat belt that was hanging out and it caused the switch to not work properly (the door indicator light for the driver side comes on or causes the driver side door to unlock). I had duct tape stuffed into the rubber part covering the black switch to compensate and keep the door from unlocking and the car alarm going off when i'm not inside the car. Outside of going to a dealership, how do I fix the problem and keep the door indicator light from coming on like that?
Thank. You. Been having that issue. Was going to take in to dealers arm and leg but checked as u said and Wow. It worked. Ty
typical problen when the beal belt gets slammed on by the door causing it to dent at the bead base where switch is, replacing switch don't solve the problem you have to fix dent to make it even again
I'm working on a more permanent fix, but a plastic soda bottle cap placed over the jamb switch will allow the switch to work. For my particular problem, the door courtesy light was staying on and draining the battery.
Help I have the same problem on a 2013 Azera . Seat belt does not retract fast enough and got stuck in door ... now switch is broken..
Why is the open door symbol staying on driver door when door is closed on a 2015 sonata
I still need help please
Eric n Ken. Where is switch button / jamb switch on 2013 Santa Fe please. Door ajar started lately n driving me crazyb
Checked with the Santa Fe and doesn’t have a switch button to press. Will appreciate assistance
The sensor for the Santa Fe is located on the latch inside the door and is difficult to replace. The door panel has to be removed. Pain in the ass. All other Hyundai’s have the sensor on the door jamb.

some one have a real part number to browse for ?
Depending upon the make/model of your car, some or all of the above answers may be true. In my case, I have a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe sport t20. The assholes who designed this suv thought it would be a great idea to put the door sensor on the latch. Both the outer and middle door panels have to be removed to replace the entire door latch ($150 part). The labor costs another $275. Nice design job by the WTF Hyundai engineers.
I have a 2013 Azera with the same issue. My solution, was to glue a Cabinet Door Bumper opposite the door sensor. This worked perfectly
