I have a 2000 Ford Focus SE. I broke my hood opening clip. how do I open the hood.

you've got to put hands on a mechanic's prybar...get an eyeball on the mechanisim...dig in with the tip and twist...that's how we handled them at the shop...the only other alternative is to dis-assemble the grille~ this prybar is from MAC tool and is 29 1/2 long~

Hi Roy, Thank you for your reply. There is nothing wrong with the cable line. It pops open when I pull the button from the driver side. but you know the small clip that you pull up with the hood to open, that's what is broken and I can't open it.

the two vicegrips solution wasn't workin'? Look for that clip...by now there are plenty of exact replacements for that....HELP racks a the parts store frequently has these "easily broken" replacements...check with your parts supplier that knows a thing or two....ROY over at Ace Auto parts on Villard, in Milwaukee (all defunct now) use to get me OEM parts for my '59 pontiac...he was a hell of a dude...wish in today's world such relationships still existed...more of an impersonal "drive-thru" society...it's so hard to get good help anymore~

did say "latch and cable"...I know you were just after the clampy part...we should be able to describe it precisely and buy the right thing that way~
