00' Ford Focus- Engine revving up and down in idle! Help!

Asked by FocusFocus Mar 11, 2015 at 02:35 PM about the 2000 Ford Focus SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently had my 2000 Ford Focus serviced for an oil leak which lead to several parts
being replaced, and now it seems to rev up and down (as if i were lightly pressing the gas
pedal repeatedly) while in idle or park. I have also noticed that it is struggling more to
accelerate and to get up hills. Any ideas as to what this might be and how much a
mechanic would charge to fix it?

I had the same problem.......... turned out to be a clear diagnostic test, but a visual inspection found a split in the air pipe on the 90% angle .

Sounds like you have a positioning control center that needs to be replace right side of your throttle body
