Engine shakes when accelerating uphill and above 2k RPM

Asked by Jacob Apr 19, 2023 at 11:01 AM about the 2003 Hyundai Sonata V6 GL FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Whenever I am
driving the engine
shutters and shakes
when accelerating
uphill or if I go above
2k RPM. It also dies
in reverse all the
time, and usually
does at least once
after I start it put it in
drive and accelerate
to about 10MPH. I
have to put it in
neutral, start it again
and put it in drive to
be able to go.

That sounds like the engine lawsuit recall. It's for safety because some of these engines catch on fire or just shut down due to hybrid failure. Check your VIN for Recall 198 & Service Campaign 966.
