2010 Hyundai sonata break lights stay on even with the car turned off

It could be the switch at the peddle , you really need a multi tester to see what has power/ground and what don't , fiddle around with the switch see if they turn off . Brake lights are generally hot at all times ( HAT ) along with horn , headlights , cig lighter , ie. they function without a key in the ignition . If brake light and directional share a 2 filament bulb the brake light juice may go through the directional switch form the switch at the peddle .

Most common is a stuck brake light switch. Break light circuits are powered all the time so the brake light will work no matter the keys position.
Weird, did it fold over and stop it from releasing all the way?
