Focus 2000, transmision noise in parking or neutral only.

The noise, like a disk rubbing a metal part, laud but not continuu, sime time. If i restart noise disapiares. What could be wrong ?

check to see if your torque converter bolts came loose. [would make a ticking sound if flywheel is cracked]

I was thinking a parking pawl is having trouble retracting 'cept while in Park, this would not happen~ the cincher is "the noise disappears"...are you sure it disappears or is it drown out by the other sounds?

No, it was a sticky ignition switch. But thank you any way.
