Alternator

Asked by Jucenta Jul 14, 2016 at 05:50 PM about the 2003 Lincoln Navigator RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am trying to replace the alternator but I
can't get it out. I have removed all bolt and
wiring. Its just sitting there because I can't
figure out how to get it out. Also I am trying
to replace the power steering puppy and
can't get it out with the special tool. What
will release it?

With the 2003 Navigator, the best (and only way we could find when we had to replace mine) was to remove the entire fan assembly in order to get the alternator out. They have it in so tight that no matter how you turn it, there is no way to remove it unless the fan is out of the way.
