Charging a new complete dead battery

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a new battery that installed 3 months ago. The car was driven for a couple of weeks then parked for two and a half months. As expected, the battery is completely dead. I have access to a Sears Platinum Battery Charger. What is the best way to charge the battery, because when I try to charge it the charger says "Check Batt". I know its dead, but it is a new battery and should take a charge. What should I do?

Thanks for the suggestions! All the connections are correct. When I tried to set the charger to Manual I get the "Check Batt" message on the charger so I don't think it I charging even though it is connected. I checked the manual but it says nothing about what the charger is doing what Check Batt message is displayed.
You may have ruined your new battery. It should have either been disconnected or had a battery maintainer on it while it was parked.
Completely dead batteries may not charge. There is a trick that may get your charger to work on a dead battery.

I put a jump box on a completely dead battery so the charger has a reference voltage. charge for 30 minutes take jump box off and let trickle charge till fully charged.
