2001 Mustang Transmission vs 2000 Mustang Transmission

Asked by RexSparkman Aug 12, 2016 at 11:52 AM about the 2000 Ford Mustang Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2000 Mustang is an automatic. I'm looking to replace and swap the
transmission. Would a 2001 Mustang Transmission fit/work in it? Is there a
difference?

Assuming this is a V6 engined car, according to www.tascaparts.com the part number for a re-manufactured 2000 year transmission is XR3Z-7V000-AARM and the part number for the 2001 year transmission is 1R3Z-7V000-ARM. I would say that something is different between these transmissions. I have no way of knowing what the difference is, but would think that it might not work.
