Why wont my truck start?

Asked by Guru3KCFR Jul 12, 2020 at 12:35 PM about the 2000 Ford Ranger XL Extended Cab Stepside SB

Question type: General

2000 ranger wont start. Battery is fine AAA came
out and tested it. When I jump start it turns over no
problem at all like nothing is wrong. When I
attempt to start again nothing happens at all with
the engine. Lights and everything else work. Again
no issues with batter power, alternator, or starter,
and truck fires right up when jumped. AAA guy said
he has no idea and has never seen this before.

I would first clean and tighten the battery connections. I don't know how AAA tests batteries but unless it was a load test the battery still may not be good.

Just went out and got a new battery just in case and new connectors, same issue. Truck fires right up when I hook up jumper cables but nothing without them. Makes no sense to me.
