When is it time to change the timing belt/chain in A 2011 Mazda3

Some say 100,000 miles
Which is it??

It depend,s if belt would be 100,000,but if chain it should last the life of the car,unless car has not had regular oil change,s,

My car is currently at 83,000 and because I live in the desert and we have extreme heat, he said it's starting to get some cracks but should be good for another year.
