Alternator replacement

20

Asked by Daniel Jul 19, 2018 at 06:56 PM about the 2000 Ford Ranger XL Extended Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I replaced alternator and tested battery at
auto zone...came back positive. Started it
up yesterday everything seemed fine. Test
drove around the block today and started
acting up like before it died out a couple
weeks ago (dim dash lights, difficult to
power up and switch gears, funny noises).
Could it be my battery now? Or am I
missing something else?

Check for blown alternator fuse in fuse box under the hood.

@firebird doesn't look like the fuse blew. If it did it would be super black, right?

If fuse isn't the problem, what else might I've missed?
