I am working on replacing my engine in my 2000 ford ranger and was wondering if parts from a 3.0L will work on a 4.0L? Like will the intake fit, the exhause manufaults will bolt up? Will the alternator, power steering pump, water pump, and air conditior compressor bolt up from the front of engine? or will i have to order new parts like the intake and etc...?

My 3.0L went bad and was wanting to upgrade. I was wondering if the parts are interchangeble like they were back when the carberated engine was out.

Hi snake42787, Unless you can find someone that has done a specific swap like this (not likely) you may have to contact your local dealership. Who better than they to be able to answer your questions about the different engines. Good luck!
you could get a 4.0L from an exploer or another ranger at the junk yard, but get the transmission too, the 3.0 Tranny Wont bolt up to the 4.0L Engine
the only things that will bolt up are the alternator , p/s pump , and a/c compressor. The intake manifolds on the trucks are completly different , the manifolds are larger , and the transmission has a different bolt pattern , not to mention you need the pcm for a 4.0L because a 4.0 will not run on a 3.0 PCM , they have different timing curves , trans shift points , fuel loops , etc , etc. it is alot of work
will 99 ford ranger 3.0 tranny bolt to a 94 3.0 ford ranger
