What would make the bearing go out in a 3.0 L engine in a 2000 ford ranger?

If you mean a rod bearing, it could be a lack of oil pressure from a bad oil pump, not changing the oil enough, low oil level, overrevving the motor, or too much clearance allowed during initial assembly.
