86 C10 face plants after floored

Asked by 86c10 Jan 15, 2019 at 05:18 PM about the 1986 Chevrolet C/K 10 RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 86 Chevy C10, Stock 305 and manifold with a edelbrock 1906.
The problem occurred I think after I installed the vintage air system.
Basically, It starts great, runs great and revs at idle but if I put it in reverse or
drive and floor it with brake on, when the motor rpms come back down, it
simply shuts off.  Starts right back up, but everytime I let off throttle, it dies.
Any ideas?  I have searched and searched....asked 6 different parts
stores....no dice.

Thanks!

Trying to figure out using the carb cleaner to see if I have a leak. As for the AC solenoid, I am not sure. I am very new to all this stuff. My carb is an edelbrock AVS2

Gary, I never had the problem before I gutted the AC and put the vintage air in.... What could I have done to the vacuum?

You need a solenoid to kick up the idle when the AC is on. Not something that is part of most (or any) carbs. Check out Summit Racing.

I haven't charged or used the AC yet so I don't think it's the problem. I don't even have to drive it, I can rev it stopped with the brake pressed in gear and it still revs up and then dies...

Looking at the Edlebrock website I cannot see that any AVS2 comes set up for AC.
