Transmission stopes switching
Asked by wonderer2 Apr 12, 2010 at 11:27 PM about the 2000 INFINITI I30 FWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
As unusual as it might be, the transmission on my Infiniti I30 stopes switching gears after driving for about 30min if temperature outside goes above 80. At lower outside temperatures it works fine no matter how long you drive. Any solutions?

i too am having the same issue. very odd and frustrating. now becoming a danger. from a standing start, transmission stays in 1st gear, and then totally slips, as if in neutral. have to pull over, turn off car. let it cool down for 5min or so, turn over and start again. most of the time issue goes away. has been increasing in frequency of late and now when i start up again, stays in 1st gear. no signs whatsoever of overheated or worn trans. multiple shops and local dealer have looked and found no issues and cannot replicate the problem. can go for months at a time with no prob, then in one week hit every day. or multiple times in one day. is it the sensor? the cpu? trans has been checked and looks totally fine.
I recently started having this exact problem, has anyone found a solution?
I am going crazy I am having the same problem with my I-30 Infiniti it's making this squealing noise and it goes and first and second gear and after that it stays in 3rd I don't know what's wrong with it but I'm thinking it could be a sensor or something I change the filter in the transmission fluid and it's still doing the same thing please help me someone up there what could be the problem?
I feel my transmission slipping a while ago on my Infiniti 200I i30 and that being the spindle in the front what is the barbarians I replace them and now my car runs perfectly so if you having a problem where you think your transmission ain't changing gears it could be the front spindle check it out before spending too much money trying to get it figured out easy fix .
